With few updates, the Dodge Charger will enter the 2022 model-year, just like the Challenger. It’s clear why after Monday’s announcement that the Dodge Charger and Challenger will eventually reach the end, at least as they are now, however.
If you are interested in buying a Charger, there is one major update for 2022. It’s a new Jailbreak option to the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. You can order color options, both for exterior and interior trims.
Dodge’s Deluxe Security Alarm is now a standard option on all Scat Pack models, including the Scat Pack Widebody model, Scat Pack Widebody model, SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. The alarm can also be used on other 2022 Charger models.
Dodge Charger, 2022
Through a revived Direct Connection performance part program, Dodge will offer factory upgrades to the Charger. Direct Connection was introduced in 1974 by Chrysler to provide factory upgrades for Chrysler Dodge, Dodge and Plymouth automobiles.
Modern parts programs will have parts for powertrain and driveline. They will come factory-backed and are guaranteed to be free from defects if installed by an authorized dealer. Dodge Power Brokers is a group of specialist performance dealers that will sell the parts. The parts program is expected to be expanded upon in the following year.
Like in past years, the V-6-powered SXT is the first model of the 2022 Charger lineup. The V-6 engine is a 3.6 liter unit with 292 HP. It can either be rear- or all-wheel-drive. V-8 models are available only with rear-wheel drives. As standard, all Chargers include an 8 speed automatic.

V-8 fun starts at the R/T. The R/T is a 5.7-liter V-8 that produces 370 horsepower. The next step is the Scat Pack Widebody and Scat Pack Widebody, which add a 6.4-liter V-8 that produces 485 horsepower. The Hellcat, a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 is above this. SRT Hellcat Widebody has 717 horsepower, while the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody produces 797 horsepower.
You can expect 0-60 MPH acceleration in just 3.6 seconds and top speeds of 203 mph. A quarter mile ET is 10.6 seconds with a speed of 129 mph.
An optional feature for V-8 models includes a standard 2.75-inch electronic controlled active exhaust system, which is designed to produce that distinctive muscle car sound.
The 2022 Dodge Charger will be delivered in the early part of 2022. Price information has yet to be revealed.
Dodge Charger, 2022
Dodge confirmed that the Charger will continue to be offered until 2023. Dodge will continue to offer a muscle sedan, but it remains to be confirmed if the car will come with either pure electric or plug-in hybrid power. There will be no Hellcat V-8s.
