2022 Genesis Electrified GV70 Has 482 HP And 800-Volt Charging Technology

Genesis took off the cover of the 2022 Electric GV70 at Guangzhou Auto Show.

This SUV will be available in all-electric form. It follows the lead of the Electrified GV80 sedan, which was launched earlier this year. It will launch in select markets from next year and while pricing details haven’t been confirmed, is expected to carry a premium over existing petrol and diesel models.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is powered by a pair electric motors. They produce 482 hp (356 kW) combined and 516 lb/ft (716 Nm) in Boost Mode. The SUV can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h), in just 4.5 seconds.

Genesis hasn’t revealed the capacity of the SUV’s battery pack but has confirmed it uses the same 400V/800V multi-rapid charging technology as the likes of the smaller GV60 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It takes just 18 minutes to recharge the battery, which can be charged from 10% to 88% using a 350kW rapid charger. On the Korean test cycle, the ElectrifiedGV70 is capable of traveling 400km per charge.

As with other electric Hyundai or Genesis vehicles, the ElectrifiedGV70 has a Vehicle to Load feature which supports 3.6kW. This allows owners to plug in different electric appliances.

Genesis also fitted the model with the Disconnector Actuator System, (DAS), which can connect and disconnect the driveshaft or motor depending on driving conditions. An Active Noise Control-Road system (ANC-R) and a dedicated eTerrain mode have also been created.

The Electrified GV70 is visually similar to a normal model. Most notable is the addition of a G-Matrix grille, which houses an EV charging port. It also makes the SUV’s rear end cleaner by omitting tailpipes.

A few minor modifications have been made to the interior, such as the installation of paddle shifters that adjust the regenerative brake, the addition of a boost button on the steering wheel and a smaller central tunnel. The use of eco-friendly materials has also been improved.
