2023 Audi A6 Facelift Spied Hiding Minor Changes

The world is patiently waiting for the production version of the fully electric A6 e-tron concept but the ICE-powered A6 hasn’t said its last word. Audi, as new spy photos suggest, is testing an update to the A6 generation (C8) that was introduced back in 2018.

Our spy cameras captured the prototype in public on roads around Ingolstadt. It was camouflaged on both the front and rear. It appears that the S-line package was installed from the appearance of the bodykit as well as the badges at the front fenders. At the front, the design doesn’t really deviate from the current model featuring the same bumper intakes although we suspect there will be at least some new headlight graphics.

Strangely enough, the rear end appears identical to that of the A6S-line with the exception of decorative exhaust outlets at the bottom of the bumper. Audi may update the exterior design of regular models with minor modifications to the bumpers. Optional OLED units could be added to the taillights with the facelift.

The interior will likely see minor changes, such as new trim options and more ADAS features. There may also be some informationtainment upgrades. It is likely that the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 10.1 inch infotainment touchscreen will remain.

Audi is likely to keep the Avant and sedan body styles. The range will include the A6 Allroad, the sporty A6 Allroad, and performance-oriented S6/RS6 models. We don’t have any information on the future engine range but we suspect most of it will be carried over with minor updates.

You will find the following engines in the vehicle: a 2.0-liter, 3.0-liter and 2.9-liter gasoline engines as well as the 2.0 and 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine. Each model is equipped with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. Power is transmitted to the front or to all four wheels (quattro) through an automatic gearbox – either the 7-speed S-Tronic, or the 8-speed Tiptronic. Audi is also offering two PHEV variants – the A6 50 TFSI, and the more powerful A6 55 TFSI e Quattro.

As a mid-life upgrade for the Avant and sedan body styles, the facelifted A6 will be revealed sometime in 2022.
