Buick unveiled Friday a preview of its next generation minivan, which it will likely not make it into the U.S.
Buick Flagship GL8 is a new concept that features sleek design and a wide range of tech options. Buick stated in a press release that the wing-shaped headlights can communicate with other vehicles and pedestrians.
Buick did not explain how it would work but pointed out that the GL8 Flagship was equipped with V2X technology, which will allow for autonomous driving.

The powertrain for this concept-oriented automaker was not disclosed by GM. Buick’s current GL8 model uses turbo-4 gasoline engines. However, GM claims it is trying to get rid of tailpipes in all passenger cars by 2035.
The interior is very lounge-like and includes a rear bench, a front seat with a tilting seat to the rear, and a tray for tea. The GL8 Flagship’s interior features a 30 inch infotainment screen with touchscreen, as well as a head-up and full-width display.

The GL8 Flagship’s design will be a strong inspiration for a new Buick GL8 minivan. The model has not been sold in America and is unlikely to be. Buick’s U.S. lineup now includes only crossover SUVs.
Buick plans to build more SUVs in the U.S., but this time they will be equipped with an electric motor. Two Buick electric vehicles were one of the twelve GM models in North America. In the context of a $20 billion investment over several years in electrification, autonomous-driving tech and electrification, the automaker will launch 20 EVs in North America in 2023.
