Although most agree with Nissan’s design, Chip Foose feels he can improve the look of the Z by making minor tweaks.
Rather than retaining styling cues from the outgoing 370Z on which the 2023 Z is based, Nissan’s designers went on a trip down memory lane and took design inspiration from the original Datsun 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z. The decision to update an outdated design was a great one for Nissan. Especially when you consider the Toyota Supra, which has little in common with the predecessors.

Foose kept the Z’s design unchanged. You may be surprised at the changes that he made to the vehicle. Look a little closer and the first thing you’ll notice is that the designer has tweaked the proportions of the Z, meaning it is now a little longer and has an elongated wheelbase. The new rear overhang is especially noticeable.
Foose also modified the Z’s headlights to make them larger and closer to the original. Other small modifications included the addition of door handles that are more traditional and the creation of a shoulder line that extends backward from the headlights.
