Final 2022 Nissan GT-R Models Start To Touch Down In Australia

R35-generation Nissan GT-R has reached its end in Australia, with the final version touching down at local shores.

The GT-R will be sent off by Nissan in Australia, with a final shipment totaling approximately 50 units. This includes both T-Spec variants and Nismo SV versions. The last Australian Nissan T-Spec vehicle to be equipped with an Australian compliance label or plate, which certifies that the car meets Australian Design Rules, is this particular T-Spec model in black. The certification process will move completely online as a result of new standards for motor vehicles.

“It’s often said that it’s best to save your best until last, and that’s certainly the case here,” Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson said in a statement. “The GT-R is Nissan’s most celebrated vehicle, and while this isn’t goodbye forever, the T-Spec and NISMO SV models do act as the closing of this chapter of the GT-R story in Australia. The fact that the last version of this generation of Nissan’s performance icon will also be the last to wear a label that’s been part of the fabric of Australian automotive history for more than 30 years is entirely fitting.”

Nissan announced in September that it was killing off the GT-R in Australia because it doesn’t meet new side-impact crash test regulations.
