Enthusiasts have been waiting for the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS for a number of years and while we didn’t receive the RS in the GT4’s first-generation, the latest 718 GT4 has finally spawned the hardcore, track-focused model.
Porsche fitted the Cayman GT4 RS’s flat-six 4.0 with 493 hp, 331 lbft (449 Nm), and it is located at the center of the vehicle rather than its big brother. It revs up to 9,000 rpm, just like the GT3’s. This engine is only coupled with a seven speed dual-clutch PDK and shorter gearing.
German carmaker BMW claims that the vehicle can reach speeds of up to 196 mph (305 km/h) in 3.2 seconds.

Eager to learn more about the ultimate Cayman, Top Gear’s Jack Rix had the opportunity to speak with Porsche GT boss Andreas Preuninger about the car. Preuninger explains in the video how the GT4 RS is different from the GT4 Standard and what it’s like to drive the 911 GT3. It is also described as the GT3’s little brother.
Porsche has also invested a significant amount of money in improving the aerodynamics on the GT4 RS. The GT4 RS features a large, high-performance rear wing with NACA pipes, a NACA duct-equipped carbon fiber hood, an adjustable spoiler at the front, and louvers on its front quarter panels. The GT4 RS has 25% more downforce to the GT4.
