Quadruple-digit horsepower used to be the domain of exotic engines that had incredibly high cylinder counts. Now, though, anyone can get 1,004 hp (1,017 PS/749 kW), thanks to Chevy’s ZZ632 crate engine, which you can see in a car in Hoonigan’s latest video.
The latest updates to the Big Block Camaro builds have been posted by the channel. They were completed under the direction of Chevrolet and displayed publicly at the SEMA Show.
This video is based on the third-generation Camaro. The previous video shows the engine in operation for the first times. The whole vehicle is now shown driving along a (allegedly) closed street. Although we still don’t have a good idea of what the engine is truly capable of, the Hoonigan crew does confirm that “it’s fast.”

“It was, like, two percent throttle, just, like, put it into gear and the ass end’s already coming around,” says Suppy, one of the builders.
Once driven with the headlights off and once again driving the Camaro to its completion, it proves the loud 10.3-liter V8 engine is quite powerful. The engine is still being tuned and pulses irregularly, suggesting extreme performance. Alex Grimm from another builder was astonished to see the engine in action.
“Dude, this thing is so cool,” says Grimm. “Out of the [third-gen Camaros] I’ve driven, I think it’s the best. The engine is fantastic, it’s incredibly drivable for a thousand horsepower.”
The build is now ready to move onto the body shop for final touches. Still being built with just a day left before the SEMA Show, there’s little opportunity to see what the engine is really capable of, but it’s certainly a tantalizing amuse-bouche for the hilarity that is sure to commence once ZZ632 builds start becoming more common.
