HYVIA Unveils Two More Hydrogen LCVs Based On The Renault Master

A month after HYVIA launched the Renault Master Van H2-TECH, Renault Group’s venture presented two more hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles for 2022 based on the Renault Master – the City Bus H2-TECH and the Chassis Cab H2-TECH.

Like the Van, both the City Bus, Chassis Cab, and the Van are equipped with a 32kW fuel cell and 33 kWh batteries, respectively. However, they have hydrogen tanks that can be filled at different capacities. Using HYVIA’s infrastructure, refueling takes around five minutes which is equivalent to this of an ICE-powered vehicle.

Renault Master City Bus H2-TECH can carry 15 people and has nine seats, six standing. Because of its low floor, and retractable ramp beneath the dual sliding doors, it is wheelchair-friendly.

A 350-bar hydrogen tank that can store up to 4 kg of hydrogen has a range between 300 km and 186 miles. The hydrogen-powered bus that premiered at Salon des Maires in Paris is destined for businesses or public services that need an environmentally friendly option for transporting people.

The next vehicle is the Renault Master Chassis Cab H2-TECH which is compatible with many different conversion options. Solutrans, held at Eurexpo Lyon in France, revealed the model. Two tanks located above the chassis at the back can hold up to 3 kg of hydrogen at 700 bars, allowing a range of 250 km (155 miles). A box van is available with 19 cubes (671 cubic feet), of cargo area and 1,000 kg (2205lbs) payload.

HYVIA places emphasis on the French production of its vehicles as well as technology being developed in France. More specifically, the vehicles are manufactured in Batilly, e-motors are produced in Cleon, hydrogen tanks are sourced from French company Faurecia, fuel-cell assembly is happening in Flins, and hydrogen integration is realized by PVI in Gretz-Armainvilliers. HYVIA’s Hydrogen Refuelling Stations which are offered for sale, rent, or lease, are also going to be produced at the Flins plant.
