Mercedes Shows Us What The New 2022 C-Class All-Terrain Wagon Looks Like In Extensive Gallery

Mercedes unveiled today the C-Class All-Terrain. It is based upon the C-Class Estate. The new model will hit dealerships this year with prices starting at €53,014.50 ($59,682.93 USD) for the gas model and at €55,394.50 ($62,335.15) for the diesel model in Germany, including VAT.

C-Class All-Terrain is a new alternative to crossovers. It joins other wagons like the A4 Allroad or rugged wagons such as the A4 Allroad. The C-Class All-Terrain is raised 40mm (1.25 inches) higher than the standard car. It also has a radiator grille and off-road-focused bumpers. There are also simulated underride guards in the rear and front. The wheel arches are covered with plastic cladding.

These modifications result in the exterior dimensions being slightly bigger than that of C-Class Estate. At 4755 mm (187.2-inches) long and 1841 mm (72.4-inches) wide, it’s four millimeters (0.1-inches) longer and 21 mm (0.8-inches) wider than the standard car.

C-Class All-Terrain comes with wider wheels (17-to 19-inches are possible), a front suspension with larger steering knobs and a multi-link suspension that is mounted on the rear axle carrier. This suspension gives you an additional 40mm (1.5-inches), of ground clearance. Comfort suspension with passive dampers makes it more comfortable to drive on.

Mercedes now offers an optional OFFROAD mode. It is specifically designed to handle terrains such as gravel roads and dirt roads. For heavier, steeper terrain, the OFFROAD+ option with Downhill Speed Regulation can be used.

Optionally, you can also add the DIGITAL LIGHT System. It features an Off-road Light for the All-Terrain so the driver can spot potential hazards sooner. The light turns on automatically when the off-road mode has been activated. It can travel up to 50 km/h (31.3 mph) and then it will turn off.

The C-Class All-Terrain also comes standard with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive. This transmission is nine-speed and can deliver up to 45 per cent of the torque to its front wheels.

The rugged wagon can be ordered in either a C 200 or C 220 d four-cylinder engine. Both the former can produce 201 horsepower (204 PS/150kW) as well as 221 lbft (3300 Nm), while the latter produces 197 HP (200 PS/147kW) along with 324lb-ft (444 Nm). The advanced starter-generator can give both a boost of up to 20 HP (20 PS/15 kW), when necessary.
