Modern Lincoln Zephyr makes debut at Auto Guangzhou 2021

Lincoln unveiled Friday’s new Zephyr at Auto Guangzhou 20,21

China’s first Lincoln sedan will soon be available for purchase. The sedan, which is mid-sized in size, was developed solely to sell in China. Lincoln has been waiting so long because of China’s obsession with sedans.

Zephyr, the production version the Zephyr Reflection Concept Car was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2021 in April. Although the design of the elegant concept has been retained, the production version is very similar to some Audi models including the A7 Sportback.

Digital screens that run the entire length of the dash make the interior even more striking. The majority of digital space is touch-sensitive, while the background shows a picture of the night sky. Lincoln stated that it chose this image to offer a relaxing experience. ActiveGlide is Lincoln’s driver assist feature. It allows hands-free driving under certain conditions. However, the driver must still monitor the situation at all times.

Zephyr is approximately 196 inches long. This makes it a little longer than MKZ (the sedan that the Zephyr replaces). The Zephyr also has a 114 inch wheelbase. Interior space will be ample thanks to this extra-long wheelbase.

China will see the Zephyr go on sale during the first quarter in 2022. The Zephyr will initially be available with the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder inline-4 engine and an 8-speed auto. Front- and all-wheel drives should both be possible. An hybrid powertrain might also be available at one point.

Although it won’t appear in the U.S. we will see it, its underpinnings could be shared with a Ford soft-roader that Ford is making available for U.S. purchase as a Fusion replacement.

Future Lincolns will be influenced by the Zephyr’s design language. There are four electric Lincolns currently in production, and the first is expected to be here by 2022. Kemal Curic, the current design chief, stated in June that future Lincolns will have minimal body panels and lighting elements along the front. Large glass roofs allow for natural light to enter the cabin.
