Fabio Quartararo is the 2021 MotoGP World Champ and has taken the BMW M Award, which was given to the MotoGP’s fastest qualifier.
Five pole positions were secured by the Frenchman throughout the season. He finished with 318 points at the BMW M Award Standings. That’s 15 points more than his closest rivals. Quartararo was handed the keys to the car after the season’s final qualifying session in a ceremony with BMW M chief executive Franciscus van Meel and Dorna Sports chief executive Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“It has been a fantastic season for me, winning my first MotoGP World Championship, and my second BMW M Award is the icing on the cake at the end of this special year,” Quartararo said. “I am delighted to have won the BMW M Award again in 2021, having claimed my ‘maiden victory’ last year. I really enjoy driving the BMW M2 CS from the 2020 BMW M Award, and I have to say that the new BMW M5 CS obviously caught my eye as soon as it was presented as this year’s prize car.”

“The BMW M Award is of great significance to us. MotoGP is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing and it is very important for us to recognize the outstanding performances of the MotoGP riders over the course of the season,” added Franciscus van Meel.
The M Award is presented by BMW to the fastest qualifying MotoGP rider every season since 2003. Marc Marquez, who has been awarded the record number of times seven times, walked away from the ceremony with two M6s and two M3 CS. Valentino Rossi as well as Casey Stoner each have three M Awards.
