QOTD: Is It Time For Dodge To Share The Mustang’s Viral Fame And Shame Crown?

It is, at this point, a cliché to point out that if you’re at a Cars and Coffee and you see a Ford Mustang leaving the show, you should run in the other direction. They aren’t the only car that is the subject of jokes on the internet.

Slowly, an assortment of Dodge posts has been developing and, even though it was deleted, there is a new post showing a Charger colliding into (plot twist). OtherCharger appeared recently on Mustang Crashes’ subreddit. My opinion is that the moderators here are too restrictive.

The Mustang and Dodge’s Challenger and Charger muscle cars are more similar than different. They all have big powerful V8s, they all appeal to classic American performance vehicles buyers, they all (traditionally) send heaps and heaps of power to the rear wheels, and they’re all more than capable of getting their driver into a lot of trouble.

The Challenger is also quite popular, even though it was introduced in 2008 and updated for the 2015MY. The Challenger outsold Mustang with 44,142 sales in its first 10 months, compared to Ford’s 41,035. There are many, so the chance of somebody getting it wrong is higher.

My personal opinion is that the Camaro should be included here. Although the most recent viral video featuring a Camaro shows it successfully doing gas pump gymkhana, the very concept of “gas pump gymkhana” is so explosively ill-advised that it ranks among the videos that warrant viral fame.

All of today’s pony and muscle cars are powerful and capable of proving to be a distraction from the more seasoned of us. More importantly, there’s evidence of them all getting into trouble. I believe maybe it’s time we expanded Mustang memes to include all pony car memes. Do you agree?
