SCR focused Stage Four Technology

The exhaust recirculatory system is the spine of Tier 4 Final technology’s success. It brought a complete revolution in engine technology. The Legislation on off-road vehicles was implemented by the European Union, Japan, and the USA in the 1990s. The USA and Europe have come up with various laws based on engine technologies that lead to some extensive development of the variety and features in engines.

They were named as tiers in the USA and stages in Europe. The year 2014 marked the strict implementation of tier four final. The engines with an output of 130 KW in the EU and 75KW in the USA had to meet with the stage four technology requirements with a reduction of PM and NOx emission to 99% based on levels of pre legislation.

An Improves SCR is All That was Required

SCR or Selective Catalytic Reduction has been improved in tier 4 final technology. There are two harmful substances, namely NOx and PM, that put the trade down, but with the evolution of the SCR technology, they can be eliminated.

The PM and NOx share relativity, according to which with a decrease in NOx levels leads to a rise in the PM levels and vice versa. There is a catalytic converter present in the exhaust line which reacts with NOx after getting injected with AdBlue, leading to a conversion of the harmful compound into water and nitrogen.

Cost-Effective, Cost Reducing and So Do the Pollutants

The upkeeping, uptime tier 4 final engine technology provides a cost-efficient fuel efficiency that reduces the operation cost as well. This has been possible with the inheritance of Selective Catalytic Reduction technology that meets the demands of users as well as the green environment. The provision of high productivity with the lower cost of maintenance accounts for the long engine life with decreased downtime. The reduction in power emissions is a reward for this effective and essential legislative regulation of exhaust emissions.

The higher the Nox and PM levels get, the higher are the chances of harmful gas emissions that can cause lung irritation, cancers, and heart diseases. Black soot and smoke produced by NOx and PM give off a foul smell, and inhaling them is detrimental to the health of individuals, irrespective of their age. Nitrous Oxides also produce smog, acid rain, and ground-level ozone. Thus, lower emissions are not an insignificant but a countable deed in the present globally warm atmospheric scenario.

Easy Installation with Enhanced Power Output

The SCR based engine technology contributes to bringing ease to the hardships related to engine installation. The cooling demand of tier 4 final engine technology is much less than without the SCR. This reflects other advantages like reduced radiator package expenses. They produce very little noise, and in a limited space, the installation of the cooling system is possible. Thus, it’s like an added advantage for the manufacturers as well the customers. The SCR makes a great pair of advanced combustion technology. If both are present, there would be a better conversion of fuel energy into mechanical energy, eventually leading to less heat rejection. This maximized power supply is thus possible for any engine displacement. So collectively, SCR technology supports easier installation or engine housing, cost-reduction, and smaller engines.

Conclusion

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) combined with  Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) helps in meeting the tier 4 final engine technology requirements. With enhanced fuel efficiency and almost negligible noise pollution, this is the smartest technology of the century. The already met demands in the four-stage and tier four technology are like an assurance for tremendous upcoming advancements based on the legislation regulations on exhaust emissions expanding to various other countries along with the EU and USA.
