The new Genesis GV60 is the brand’s first-ever EV and YouTuber Asian Petrolhead recently had the opportunity to test it out.
Genesis will become an entirely electric company by 2025. Its first electric model, the GV60, shares the Electric-Global Modular Platform(E-GMP), with both the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV6. While its underpinnings aren’t bespoke, it does feel different enough from its more affordable siblings to justify its more premium price tag.

Asian Petrolhead tested the GV60 Performance model. It was fitted with a 77.4 kWh lithium battery and 214 hp motors at both the front and back, which combined to generate 429 hp (605 Nm), of power. This variant also offers a ‘Boost Mode’ that increases torque to 700 Nm for 10 seconds at a time. The YouTuber notes that the GV60 feels much quicker than the Ioniq 5 and EV6 models he has tested, although he mentions that he hasn’t driven the flagship EV6 GT yet.
The Genesis GV60, unlike the EV6 and Ioniq 5, uses cameras rather than traditional wing mirrors. Two screens are installed in the cabin that transmit live images and appear to be working well. Another unique aspect of the GV60’s interior is the Crystal Sphere shifter that spins around when the vehicle is ready to be driven. The shifter is unique in automotive and YouTuber loves it.
