The Petersen Automotive Museum Seeks To Define “Hypercar” With Its Latest Exhibit


The Petersen Automotive Museum announced that it is preparing a new exhibit that focuses entirely on the latest definition of ultra-high-performance vehicles. “Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme” will have a rotating cast of 30 vehicles on display in the museum.

“Hypercars are a glimpse of the future today,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “With this extensive exhibit, we want to nail down what a hypercar is while giving guests the opportunity to view some of the rarest and most luxurious vehicles available.”

Museum has so far confirmed that this exhibit will showcase the Aria FXE Concept and Bugatti Veyron 164, the Caparo T1, Devel Sixteen, Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta (Design Model), Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta (Design Model), Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta), the Hennessey Venom F5(Design Model), Ferrari Laraki Sahara as well as the McLaren Speedtail.

Czinger 21C the Laguna Seca lap records holder, will also be present for a few brief moments. Two motorcycles that the Petersen Museum considers to be hypercars, the Lotus C-01 as well the Aston Martin AMB 001, are also planned.

According to the museum, the term “hypercar” is used for vehicles that exist at the highest echelon of performance, technological advancement, price, and rarity. The museum exhibits cars both from high-end brands and small startups with an emphasis on performance, technology and beauty.

The Allure of the Extreme: Hypercars will be in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery. It is scheduled to open on Saturday, December 4, 2021 and run until September 22, 2022. The second wave will arrive in September 2022 and depart on May 14 2023.
