Toyota Launches 2022 GR86 Configurator, Show Us Your Own Build

Seven months after its official reveal, Toyota has finally launched the GR86’s configurator, allowing potential buyers to spec their own before pulling the trigger on the sports car.

Buyers can choose between two trims: the GR86 Premium and the GR86 Premium. Although the two trims perform identically, Premium offers extras that make it worth the $2600 increase over the base price of $27 700. These extras include lager tires, a ducktail spoiler and adaptive headlights. They also have heated side mirrors.

Powertrain configuration is next. Both trims have the same 228 horsepower 2.4L four-cylinder engines. Customers can also choose from a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 6-speed auto for $1,075.

After that, there’s the Colors tab. Interior upholstery can be either cloth in Base or suede Premium. It is only available in black. The paint colors include Halo, Steel (light gray), Raven (black), Neptune(light blue), Pavement/dark grey), Trueno Blue and Trueno Blue. Track Bred costs an extra $425. All other paint colors, however, are free.

Finally, after the empty Packages tab there’s the Accessories section, which includes various items regarding interior and exterior protection, as well as some optional tech and visual upgrades. The GR Appearance package is perhaps the most intriguing. It includes GR fender inserts and a GR rear bumper applique. Door edge guards are also included. Black wheel locks are available, as well as lug nuts. After all’s said and done, the most expensive GR86 you can configure is an automatic Premium with every single accessory optioned, and it goes for around $36,000. This spec, an automatic Premium equipped with $425 of paint and accessories costs just over $32,000.
