Skoda has begun preparations for unveiling the new Slavia. You can see it live in the video above at 3:30 EST (8:00 GMT).
Slavia was developed specifically for India and will use the MQBAO-IN platform. It will slot below the Octavia with an overall length of 4,541 mm (178 inches), while at 2,651 mm (104.3 inches), its wheelbase is slightly shorter than the Octavia’s 2,686 mm (105.7 inches) .
Recent sketches released of the Slavia’s exterior and interior confirm that it will borrow obvious styling cues from other Skoda models. A similar front fascia to the Fabia will feature angular headlights, an imposing grille and a bold bumper. Skoda also designed the sedan with bold lines down the sides and sporty roofline.

Slavia’s interior will look very much like the Fabia. It has the same steering wheel, basic instrument cluster, dashboard and door panels as the Fabia, along with the same center console. It will come with a 10 inch touchscreen which is slightly bigger than the 9.2-inch supermini’s screen. A 10.25-inch digital cluster will also be standard.
Two engines will be available to local buyers. Slavia’s entry-level model will feature a 1.0-liter TSI 3-cylinder that produces 113 hp. It will also be powered by a 1.5-liter TSI 4-cylinder producing 148 hp. Both engines will be offered with manual transmissions while the 1.0-liter will also offer a six-speed auto and the 1.5-liter an be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch ‘box.
